JetBlue is adding Palm Springs, CA as a destination for the winter season, giving shivering New Yorkers another way to head for warm weather. Starting January 14, JetBlue will run 5-day-a week service from JFK.

Virgin America also serves the two destinations, as well as running San Francisco to Palm Springs flights. The two airlines’ direct services will be almost mirror images. JetBlue’s west-bound flight will leave NYC at 7:45 pm, landing in California at 10:56 local time; Virgin America’s flight leaves at 10:30 am and arrives at 1:35. The return flights follow a similar pattern; JetBlue will run a redeye, leaving at 11:49 pm and getting to JFK at 7:43 am. Virgin America’s return leaves at 2:45 pm and lands in New York at 10:50 pm.
