June 17, 2018: Grand Central Terminal (not Station)

One of the grand old buildings in NYC, Grand Central Terminal is beautiful, crowded and a great place to kill and hour or just stop in to take a photo. Contrary to popular belief, this is not Grand Central Station, that is the post office nearby, and many a bar bet has been lost on that fact.

Grand Central has 44 platforms used by commuters, the most in the world, and while it is used primarily by commuters on the MetroNorth rail lines, it will be home to Amtrak trains heading north along the Hudson River for the next several months as repairs ar being done along the rail line out of Pennsylvania Station.

The terminal underwent major renovations during the 1980’s cleaning the ceiling and creating a new food court on its lower level. The cleaning of the ceiling revealed that the night sky that was painted there was backward.
