The Saitama Peace Museum in Higashimatsuyama, Japan gives you a glimpse of what life was like in Japan for the average person in Saitama before, during and after World War II.
For me the most powerful exhibit was where you sit in on a morals lesson in a classroom. An air raid siren sounds during class and you rush to a bomb shelter.
The museum also has a lookout tower that provides great views of the Chichibu mountain range and Tokyo on clear days. Unfortunately it was stormy the day we went.
