Living in Colorado now, the one thing I do miss about California is the beach. I love the water and it is really hard sometimes to not be able to enjoy it all the time. However, we do make it to California quite often and taking in the views. Quite often we will stop at Dockweiler State Beach and Park which is partially located under the flight path of LAX. I always love having out there and enjoy the beautiful beach, while watching planes take off and land. I don’t know which is more enjoyable, watching the views, or dreaming and thinking about where people or going or coming from.
As far as the park itself, it is 91 acres, was established in 1948 and in 1955 was named in honor of prominent early Angeleno Isidore B. Dockweiler. The park also boasts the Dockweiler Beach Hang Glider Flight Training Park, where beginners can learn the sport of hang gliding. If you aren’t much into hang gliding, there is a bicycle path which connects the Ballona Creek bicycle path at its northernmost point and is part of the 22-mile coastal Marvin Braude Bike Trail system.
If you haven’t checked out this park, I highly suggest checking it out sometime before taking off or landing in LAX. We always have a nice time. Do what we do sometimes, grab some In n Out, relax, and enjoy the view. Why not, you are in CA
