Lima Peaks, Montana

Located in the southwestern corner of Montana, a few dozen miles east of Yellowstone National Park and just east of the I-15 Freeway, is this pretty group of mountains known as the Lima Peaks. I thought them worth pulling off the highway to snap some photos.

The peaks are located at the Idaho-Montana border and form part of the Continental Divide.  Several of the peaks exceed 10,000 feet in height.  This area is popular with hikers and mountain climbers.

The valley is high desert sagebrush country, and you’ll find big ranches here like one shown in the photo below.
