Miami’s Wynwood: New street art destination

Think of Miami, and what comes to mind? For me, it’s older New Yorkers on the beach, Art Deco along South Beach, and Cuban food. Others probably have different pre-conceptions, but it’s a fair bet that avant garde street art is not at the top of the list.

But a recent Associated Press article about the Wynwood district, an area of factories and warehouses that has now become an art and performance venue may have changed that forever. The article nominates the colorful murals and sidewalk art that now adorn the area as one of the “two must-have selfies for any visitor” (along with South Beach).

Some are by well-known artists, and some will make their artists well-known. And the area doesn’t have just art; it’s turned into a hub for artisanal food and food trucks and more.
