Mini-Fiats have an Italian visa problem

Italian authorities have seized dozens of Fiat Topolinos, an ugly duckling of a mini-car that's first cousin to the Citroen Ami, claiming that it's claiming to be Italian when it isn't.

The electric vehicle, technically a quadricycle rather than a car, came with a tiny Italian flag sticker just below the wing mirrors even though it's assembled in Morocco, as is the Ami. Citroen and Fiat are both brands of Stellantis. Fiat claims it wasn't misleading because the vehicle was designed in Turin, but has agreed to remove the stickers.

The issue comes a month after another Stellantis brand, Alfa Romeo, was forced to rename its new Polish-built sedan from Milano to Junior.
