New discounts on California’s Pacific Surfliner

The Pacific Surfliner, which hugs the California coast from San Diego to San Luis Obispo, 361 miles away, is getting a new discount program designed to get more people on the train and off the  highway.

The line carries heavy commuter traffic along its major urban stretches including Los Angeles, but it’s equally famed for its views, including sections where it runs so close to the Pacific you’d swear it was running on water.

Under the California Everyday Discounts program, announced by Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor Agency, which oversees the Pacific Surfliner service, seniors, students and people with disabilities will get a 15% discount and children traveling with a paying adult will get 50% off.
