Imagine an audioguide, like the ones you use in a museum, but for a whole city or country. That's the idea behind Wanderpass, a new free app available for Android and iPhone.
Japanese software maker Iponn is working on the idea with the goal of covering much larger areas, but for now it's live in Tokyo. Unlike the museum guide, where you punch in the number of the exhibit or painting, Wanderpass uses GPS to locate you and provide information (both practical and sightseeing) for that location. It can also answer your questions, such as "Where should I go to see cherry blossoms?"
For now, it's available in Japanese and English, but more languages and more places are being developed. You can get the apps at these links:
