New Japan spa plans hot-tub roller coaster

Yes, that's certainly one step beyond. A combination of a hot tub with a roller coaster, and possibly as much spray as a log flume ride (though that part's not in the plan.)

It's the brainchild of the mayor of Kyushu spa town Beppu, which is already known for its water-based spas. The mayor released a promotional video and declared that if it got a million views (which it quickly did) Beppu would move ahead with construction. No date set for completion, yet.

The plans call for other spa-water based rides as well, and spa-based gambling rooms. A word of caution: the engineers are not sure they can safely fill roller coaster cars with steaming water. We're doubtful, too...but who knows?
