New Suffolk cycle trail: Kings and wolves

Suffolk, England has a new medieval-themed cycle trail, the Wolf Way, stretching some 400 miles over existing bridleways, byways, gravel tracks, cycle paths and quiet backroads.

The project of two enthusiasts who put it together and maintain a web site with information about points of interest along the trail, it includes everything from neolithic settlements to lost seaside cities, medieval wool towns, UFO sites and the village of Hoxne (where St Edmund allegedly lost his head). The Wolf Way name comes from the importance of the wolf as a symbol in the area.

The founders, who were inspired by the Norfolk Rebellion Trail which was put together by cycling associations with official funding, created this one on their own. Their site also provides guides for shorter trips along the way, such as the Wolf Cub, Winter Wolf and Wolverine short-haul trips.
