Now, a camper in a suitcase

A Polish start-up company thinks it's found a way into the popular camper-van market that doesn't require owning a van, or limiting yourself to home territory if you do. Its product packs all the elements of basic van camping into a suitcase-sized kit that can fly as checked baggage.

Made of carefully-trimmed and waterproofed plywood, the kit turns into a bed for two, has parts that set up into a two-person outdoor sofa, two small stools and a dining table, as well as including mattress, two pillows and a pull-out cooking surface. All the parts are cleverly fitted together in the box in a way that resembles an IKEA furniture project.

The company, 123camp.eu calls the kit MiniiB, and says it can turn any rented hatchback car into an instant camper. It has been offering the product ahead of production on Kickstarter, where a hyper-enthusiastic video shows off all the parts and functions.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
