St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, built in 1916, sits on a hilltop in Victoria Mines, overlooking the entrance to Sydney harbour.
It really is a beautiful church and its location is considered one the most scenic in all of Cape Breton. The twin spires have served as a navigational landmark from land, sea and air.
It is in in disrepair now, but the Stone Church Restoration Society is trying to save it. A cemetery is in back.
