Today’s title, Paris from 5 to 7, has mixed meanings, the most common of which in France is a reference to the hours at which men visited their mistresses before returning home. But it can also be the time in late afternoon when sun and shadow mix, and eventually turn to night.
The pictures in this gallery are from early February walks in Paris at that hour; some are barely tinged with fading light (and they were gray days, in any case) and some when night has clearly fallen.
Near the Louvre Pyramid (top photo) a monument, and in the other direction, the carousel in the amusement park in the Tuileries Gardens.
I admit to being taken enough with Paris to believe it is one of the few cities that is as beautiful in drizzle and gray light as in bright summer sun…but I’ll leave that to you.
