Just in time for the Olympics, Paris has a new museum that has nothing at all to do with sports. Instead, it's focused on the history of the French presidency and its former occupants (as well as the present one in the photo above).
The Maison de l'Élysée, as it is called, is located just opposite Macron's official residence at the Elysée palace on rue Saint-Honoré, near the Champs Élysées. During the Olympics period, admission is free but limited to 150 visitors at a time; starting in September reservations will be required.
The museum includes original furniture, art and photos that have decorated the palace over the years, including the desk in the photo above, which was used by Charles de Gaulle as well as several later presidents.
And, inevitably, there is a cafe with a view of the Palace courtyard and a gift shop selling presidency-themed souvenirs.
