Phil’s Fish Market and Eatery

Phil’s Fish Market and Eatery is located in Moss Landing, Monterey County.  We stopped here for lunch while driving from a few day vacation in Monterey to SFO.  One of my friends lived in the area and frequented Phil’s.  It was important to him that we try this favorite eating establishment, and I’m glad we came by because the food was terrific!

Phil’s Fish Market is a locally owned family business that’s been around for over 30 years.  It’s been featured in many travel magazines and websites, including BBC Travel, the Food Network and Sunset magazine.

Moss Landing is a small simple fishing village and Phil’s fits right in.  It’s got a  quaint seaside charm.  Dishes are fresh and tasty, and many repeat customers develop a favorite.  My friend’s happened to be the ciopinno, a stew that contains clams, mussels, white fish, calamari, Dungeness crab, prawns and scallops in a broth containing 3 types of tomatoes.  I enjoyed the grilled fish and another buddy got the fish and chips.

Phil’s has a large seafood section/market, and during this time of CoVid, dining in is limited to non-existent, depending on the mood of the California governor.  Take-out is available and I’d be here often if I lived nearby.

I wandered through the market snapping photos of some of what was for sale.  Everything was fresh and looked good!
