Road Scholar gets its own ‘floating campus’

Road Scholar, the non-profit travel organization that organizes travel-and-study programs for older adults, will now have its own ship for cruises in the Mediterranean and beyond.

Aegean Odyssey, operated by the cruise line Voyages to Antiquity, will be exclusive to Road Scholar, which will run educational programs on itineraries that explore Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Italy, Spain and the British Isles. The plan is a continuation of Road Scholar’s existing programs which saw 13,000 50+ adults taking on-board courses, and thousands more taking part in land-based itineraries.

Road Scholar, known as Elderhostel from its 1975 founding until 2010, says that its trips on the ship will be significantly less expensive than equivalent commercial voyages.
