Royal Air Maroc joins Oneworld alliance

Royal Air Maroc will become the first Africa-based airline in the Oneworld alliance, filling in a missing link for the group that includes American Airlines and British Airways. It will become a full member of the group by 2020.

It’s the first new member in several years, since Qatar joined in 2012, and will allow Oneworld passengers and loyalty member to make one-ticket connections to RAM’s network of African cities, and allow RAM to sell tickets through to cities it does not serve by booking passengers on partner planes. The connection will also allow loyalty plan members of the alliance’s airlines to ‘earn and burn’ points on Royal Air Maroc flights.

Oneworld’s announcement also included another airline, Fiji Airways, which will become a ‘Oneworld Connect’ member, offering a lesser degree of integration and privileges. Alaska Airlines has said it is also considering that status.
