Ryanair faces new Spain strikes

Ryanair's labor issues are about to extend into the new year with an announcement by two Spanish cabin crew unions that they will hold 24-hour strikes on January 8, 10 and 13 over demands for contracts under local law.

While Ryanair has, in recent months, reached contracts with workers in several countries, including Britain, Germany, Portugal and Italy, there are open issues for workers in several countries, including Ryanair's insistence, except when forced, to ground its contracts in Irish labor law, which is less favorable for workers than in most European countries.

Spain is a major market for Ryanair, with 13 of its 89 operating bases located there. It carries a large volume of British winter vacation travel as well as many connections to cities all over Europe.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
