Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, which has suffered congestion and slow security operations in the aftermath of the pandemic has now taken steps to move departing passengers through and out more quickly.
The latest move is the replacement of all 53 of the airport's passenger scanners with new faster ones that can check a passenger in less than three seconds and are accurate enough in resolving images that fewer manual physical checks will be needed.
Earlier, the airport installed 3D CT scanners for hand baggage going through security; with the new equipment, passengers no longer need to take electronics and the like out of their bags as they go through, while still meeting high security requirements.
