During my recent trip to Whitehorse, on the Canada Day Weekend in July, my rambling around the city brought me to the Kwalin Dun Cultural Center, a new addition to the city since my last visit. The place is quite lovely -- a modern building adjoining the Yukon River, with a distinct aboriginal touch.
It was bustling with activity so I wandered in. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a special event was being held over the weekend -- a gathering of sorts, with live entertainment, food, activities and exhibits. This event was known as the Adaka Cultural Festival and I spent an enjoyable hour exploring the facility, listening to the music and admiring the beautiful handicrafts.
I ended my visit enjoying a nice piece of bannock. If you don't know what that is, google it. It was delicious.
A few more views from this fun event...
As I left, I spotted an appropriately themed mural on a near-by building.
