This building, “The National Art Museum of Catalonia”, is located near the base of the Montjuic hill in Barcelona. The museum features an extensive art collection from the region that spans hundreds of years, and is well known for its collection of Romanesque art. It’s one of the largest museums in Spain.
The museum is housed in Palau Nacional, a huge building dating to 1929. It was constructed for the 1929 World International Expo hosted in Barcelona. The museum moved into the structure in 1934.
We didn’t have time to explore its vast collection, but did stop by to admire the beautiful architecture. The museum rests on the slope of a hill and is accessible by either stairs or escalator.
