Overall, I found the people in India to be very friendly. This was especially true in the Sikh city of Amritsar, in northwestern India (close to the Pakistani border). During the days I was there, people would often approach me, asking where I was from and beginning conversations. Often, I was asked to take their photo, an offer I couldn't refuse.
Younger people often wore western clothing, but this was an area of India where traditional dress is still common. Traditional Sihk men don't cut their hair, which is rolled into attractive turbans; their beards are full and impressive.
