My son recently shipped me a 1992 Nissan Cima from Tokyo to Jacksonville.
Amazing how complex the process is. The whole process takes about 2 months, but can vary depending on how long customs takes to inspect the car. For most cases, unless the model was sold in the US, the car has be older than 25 years to be eligible to ship.
Because Japan has strict and expensive inspections for vehicles, a lot of the older vehicles there are in excellent shape and have very low miles. Mine happens to have only about 21,000 miles on it.
