In the past, Yorkshire had an extensive railway system, covering cities, towns and villages in sparsely populated rural areas. As time marched on, many lines were closed, leaving main line services only, which is the present situation.

Almost by accident, on my landscape travels, I have begun to photograph some of these remaining railway locations, some of which have been restored by small companies and volunteer groups who perform amazing tasks, driven by passion.
