Stormtroopers (and Wookies and Jedis) invade Barcelona

 

Barcelona loves parades and the world seems to love Star Wars−especially this year, with a new movie opening just before Christmas. Put that all together, and you’ve got Barcelona’s annual Star Wars parade, bigger than ever.

 

This was the ninth year for the parade, organized by a group that calls itself Star Wars Catalunya. Members and fans did what they like to do: dress up in character costumes and go out in the world, and on the streets, ending with a photo op where children and other fans can have their pictures taken with the costumed characters. Barcelona is apparently a friendlier place for the Star Wars cult than Madrid, where a series of giant helmets, set up for photo ops, suffered repeated vandalism. A week or so ago, the situation reached the point where the owners took down the heads. Details HERE
