Sun Country shifts course and colors

 

Sun Country Airlines, famous for flying Minnesotans to warm places in the winter—and for stranding two planeloads of them in Mexico when bad weather struck earlier this year, has a new operating plan and new colors.

The airline was sold over the winter to new owners, who plan to shift it from its original budget and market niche to a no-frills airline, along the lines of Spirit, dropping first-class for more seats and implementing a more fee-oriented price structure.

To go with the new model, and, of course, to generate publicity, Sun Country will modify its livery for new planes (and for older ones as their paint cycle comes up. Employees have been asked to choose between two tail patterns and two fuselage patterns, offering four possible combinations.
