The most spectacular views of Puglia

Puglia (southern Italy) is one of the most varied and beautiful regions in Italy. Its landscapes include villages perched on hills or overlooking very high cliffs, stretches of unspoiled and wild nature, beaches of crystal clear water, imposing monuments. Millions of tourists every year come to admire and photograph these places. But what are really the most spectacular views of Puglia? Here is our list.

1) The place where two Seas meet (Santa Maria di Leuca) -- see top photo. At this point (and more precisely in Punta Meliso) it is possible to clearly see the meeting line of the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea, the two Seas that bathe Puglia. It will not be difficult to take this line with a good photographic lens and notice the clear blue difference of the two streams of water. A true spectacle of nature.

2) Trulli of Alberobello. The Trulli of Alberobello, traditional Apulian dry-stone buildings with a cone-shape roof were declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1996. Although in Puglia there are many other Trulli scattered in the countryside, Alberobello is the only town whose historic center is made up of Trulli. There are almost 1500 of them. For a fairytale view we recommend the Belvedere Santa Lucia. And if you want to live a truly unique experience, you can also choose to stay overnight and spend your holidays in a Trullo Villa.

castel del monte
(Castel del Monte)

3) Castel del Monte. The majesty of the fortress built by Frederick II in the thirteenth century, inserted in the barren landscape of the western Murge creates a unique panorama. The mystery that surrounds this castle (the mathematical and astronomical rigor of its plant, the symmetrical plays of light in the various phases of the day and the seasons, etc.) and its innumerable symbolisms, have always attracted travellers and researchers. It is definitely worth a visit!

4) Polignano a mare. You are in the historic center of a charming village full of typical restaurants and shops. Suddenly you turn into an alley and find yourself on a terrace overlooking a very high cliff with a breathtaking view made of white houses on the coast, blue sea as far as the eye can see and coves. A panorama that you will hardly forget.   Are you planning a holiday at Polignano a Mare? Discover the best accommodations in luxury villas.

5) The olive groves. Among the most spectacular views of Puglia we cannot fail to mention the expanses of centuries-old olive groves, among the most beautiful and at the same time strange things that nature has given us. Twisted trunks that seem to dance when fixed, static yet in motion over the centuries: just take a ride by car or bike in the countryside to never stop being enchanted. A particular place to see an incredible spectacle of centuries-old olive trees is the "Grotta dei millenari", near Ostuni, a cavity at the end of a country path that overlooks a stretch of olive trees as far as the eye can see.
