The Pink Lady is a lovely home -- one of the most photographed in the country. It's a Queen Anne style house with a very ornamental exterior, including curved porches, scalloped edges, a gabled roof and domed turret. It was built in 1889 as a wedding present for John Milton Carson, first born son of lumber baron William Carson whose mansion (Carson Mansion) is located across the street in Eureka, California. The Pink Lady is one of the city's listings in the National Register of Historic Places.
We never saw the interior of the Pink Lady, but it is said to contain Queen Anne elements including a large foyer, a curved staircase, stained-glass windows, ornate woodwork, decorative fireplaces, and a sun porch. I'm sure it's quite lovely.
After John Milton Carson and his family sold this home in 1912, it changed hands a number of times, including ownership by the father of television actor Lloyd Bridges. The senior Bridges worked hard to restore the home.
Current owners refer to the house as “The Pinc”. It can be rented in its entirety, or individual rooms can be booked for a stay. The home is opening a dining room/lounge and has a gift shop.
