The Rain in Spain: Good News

After a summer drought that left Spain perhaps the driest it had been in 1,200 years, this year's rains are filling the country's reservoirs to more comfortable levels for the year ahead.

Last year's drought left average reservoir levels at 39%, with some areas even closer to totally dry, but this year's rains have already filled the reservoirs to an average of 50.9%, a level not seen since May 2022—and there are remaining weeks of winter and spring melt to help push it further.

However, the good news isn't universal: Andalusia and other southern areas are still under 30%; the average is made up by northern areas like Asturias at 93% and Galicia at 89%.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
