Security concerns after recent attacks may lead to cancellation of some summer events in France's towns and villages if adequate security isn't available.
France's Interior Minister has told local authorities around the country to work with police and security agencies to provide security for summer events—and to cancel if they can't be held safely.
The government has mobilized 23,000 additional police, paramilitary gendarmes and soldiers to add to police presence at 56 main summer events, including the Bayonne Festival and the annual Paris Plages beach festival, but is concerned there might not be enough to go around for other events. A number of events, including a Paris outdoor film festival, have already been cut.
