TSA adds second PreCheck registrar

 

The Transportation Administration is finally getting a second, and possibly a third channel for signing travelers up for PreCheck, the trusted traveler program that allows members to use dedicated security lanes with fewer restrictions.

The new kid on the block is Telos, which will join TSA's long-time vendor, Idemia in signing up new members for the program, both in established offices and in outreach campaigns. Telos recently successfully completed field tests with ten offices, and will now open more. Telos was first named for the program in January, 2020, but the pandemic held up the process.

A third potential registrar is in the works: Clear, the private biometric security company found at many airports and sports venues. It is working with TSA to coordinate its systems so that it will be able to directly enroll new members as well as its existing Clear customers.
