TSA's busiest day, over and over

The July 4th travel season this year has been breaking record after record, starting with Friday, June 28th, the first ever day for TSA agents to scan over three million passengers through U.S. airports—and the records keep falling. The five busiest airport days in history have all happened since Memorial Day.

It's been a busy week on the roads, as well, with AAA estimating that 71 million Americans have headed for destinations 50 miles or more from home, with over 60 million of them driving.

For road travelers, the heaviest days have been July 3, 4 and 7th, while air travel peaks have been June 28 and a new record expected today, despite many weather-related flight delays and cancelations.

So far this year, travel is 8% above pre-pandemic 2019, which was, until now, the biggest travel year ever.
