UPS keeps the 767 parade going

UPS has just given Boeing's 767 production line another life extension with an order for another 19 of the freighter model for delivery over the next three years. The order will bring UPS's 767 fleet up to 91 planes out of its more than 250 planes.

Forty years after the first 767 rolled off the assembly line, the freighter version is still in full production, but unlike the 737 that still has passenger variants going into service, there are no passenger versions being built, although at least until recently Boeing had the passenger version available in its sales book. The last passenger version was built in 2014 for Air Astana.

UPS and Fedex are both heavy users of Boeing freighters, and air cargo demand is growing. That's meant a solid market not only for new 767F models but also a lively aftermarket in converting retired passenger 767s to freight.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
