Canada's Porter Airlines and a group of Vermont ski and hospitality sites have cooked up a winter welcome that allows Canadians to, in effect, pay their U.S. vacation bills in Canadian dollars with no discount.
With the Canadian dollar at about 80c US, the 20% to 30% discounts in the deal do the trick. Porter flies from Toronto's close-in Billy Bishop Airport and a dozen other Canadian cities as well as to U.S. cities and vacation locations.
The special deal, which includes such well-known Vermont resorts as Stowe and Mad River Valley, are based on flights from Toronto to Burlington, Vermont.
"We are excited that passengers who fly to Vermont on Porter Airlines this winter season will receive at-par rates for lodging packages at select hotels, resorts, inns, and bed and breakfasts," said Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Wendy Knight. "Toronto to Burlington is a quick direct flight on Porter, and we expect this lodging promotion to further boost travel between Canada and Vermont."
