Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#80)

witw 80

Charleston, Dublin, Toronto, Jerez, California.....Gumbo's been getting around the world lately!  That's what Gumbo does to generate these travel puzzles -- travel hard and live to tell of it (someone's got to!)

And Gumbo's off again today, another journey, another destination.  This week Gumbo's visiting this fascinating historic place.  Seems quite old and beautifully built.  But what is, and where is it?

THE RULES

  1. Share your suggestions, hints and discussions with others by posting them here as comments...
  2. If you absolutely know where it is....please give others a couple of days to work on it  before you pounce.  If the answer is burning your fingers, e-mail it to suggestions@travelgumbo.com and we'll publish it Tuesday night...right or wrong!
  3. To post here, you need to be  a member...but that's free and easy.  Just click HERE

So, exactly where is Gumbo today?  Please be as specific as possible.

Except for PHeymont's excellent observation above, it has been very quiet on this WITW.

Rather than provide you additional photos or with more clues just yet, I want you do generate the clues.  I'd like to try the following with this puzzle:

Phrase questions that I can answer either as "Yes" or "No".  (e.g.  Is this a church? -- answer is yes.  Was this church built in the 18th century  -- answer is no, etc).  I'll start answering your quieries (though can't promise I'll answer every one).  Let's see if we can get this puzzle solved!

So far still very quiet on this WITW.  A few more clues, before the reveal on Friday morning.

The church is home to its country's patron saint.  It was visited by William the Conqueror and more frequently, the Vikings.

Does this help you?
