Whitby – North Yorkshire Coastal Town

Whitby on Tuesday was warm but wet – still holiday season but a little quieter as visitors looked for indoor entertainment.  The harbour and fishermen were busy. The Abbey which overlooks the harbour and town from a cliff top, stood proud, as it always has.  Observing the Abbey ruins in the mist, helps to understand Bram Stokers inspiration for his famous works.

Camping on the pig farm beyond the abbey in the sixties But loved it. A fine wee nugget of a port town that never seems to lose its charm – there’s no room, unlike sprawling cousins of Scarboro, Brid and Filey
