March 19, 2018: Winter at Caraquet Wharf, New Brunswick

The Port of Caraquet, also known as the Caraquet Wharf, has been used for more than two centuries. The port is an important hub for fishing boats for the Province.

Winters are very tough in New Brunswick and the freezing of the Bay of Caraquet halts the ships at the port until spring.

Brrrrr.  I can feel that North Atlantic wind crossing over all that ice.

It’s a little hard to tell from the photos but I assume the boats are dry-docked fro the winter?  Ice can be a very destructive force when it thaws.
