World's best airport? You have to leave home to find it!

Skytrax has released its ratings of the world's top airports, and the line-up at the very top has no representatives from North or South America. Six of the top 10 were in Asia, and the rest in Europe. Topping the list again is Singapore's Changi airport, followed by Korea's Seoul/Incheon.

The best North America could do was #11 for Vancouver International. The U.S. top five were Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (#30 in the world), followed by Denver (33), San Francisco (36), Atlanta (44) and Seattle-Tacoma (54). Cincinnati also won for best regional airport in North America.

Skytrax says its ratings are based on the world's largest customer satisfaction survey of air travelers; MORE about it in USA Today. But honestly...how much faith could you give a survey that ranks Heathrow in the Top 10? Puhleeeez!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations

They are looking at different criteria than I am for sure. I want an airport that's easy to get into and out of and where customs is friendly.  Maybe an airport I can sleep in if I have to.

I am a fan of John Lennon Airport in Liverpool for those above reasons. Marseille Provence Airport is also a good one for Europe .Florida has some great airports too like Jacksonville and Sanford. In Asia, Haneda Airport in Tokyo is a good airport ,much closer to Tokyo than Narita and plenty of places to rest comfortably while waiting for your flight.

If you want a thing done, ask a busy man.

To me a good airport is one that moves it's lines quickly (or avoids them all together) and has lots of places to sit, and outlets to charge your electronic gadgets.  I'd probably add free wi-fi as well.  And a few places I can get good quality food for a reasonable price to that list, too.

I don't care about shopping, fancy dining, executive lounges or things "professional" travelers might be interested in.
