Where in the World was Gumbo? #25 – Milwaukee WI

IMG_0084And we have a winner! Port Moresby correctly identified Gumbo as visiting the Michigan Ave. Bridge in Milwaukee WI. Last summer I went to Milwaukee to visit one of my daughters. While there we took a cruise on the Milwaukee River and out onto Lake Michigan. One of the fun things about this cruise (for a technology geek like me) we to pass under the several platform bridges along the river. Like the Michigan Ave bridge the raise straight up into the air.

Along the river is fascinating view of some of the old industrial buildings of Milwaukee. many of those are in the 3rd ward which has become a very trendy area of shops and restaurants.

The cruise then goes out onto Lake Michigan with views back to the city. This includes a water side view of the Milwaukee Art Museum whose new wing was designed by Santiago Calatrava.
