There’s a lot of history to discover in Natchitoches, Louisiana, but none as fun as exploring Kaffie-Frederick General Mercantile Store.
It is Louisiana’s oldest general store and filled with everything you can think of from antiques displayed on the walls, products you haven’t seen since your childhood, hardware, housewares, cookware, kitchen supplies, classic toys and a huge Christmas area. They even use their 1910 cash register for every sale.
Established in 1863 by Jewish Prussian immigrants Adolph and Harris Kaffie, the store holds true to its original appearance; a vast room with an amazing array of what you need and what you didn’t know you needed.
The second floor is a gift shop and Christmas gallery.
Located on Front Street, you’ll want to carve out plenty of time to explore the store as you tour Louisiana’s oldest city.
