January 11, 2016: A Winter Day at Lake Coeur d’Alene

While my eyes were mostly focused on the treetops or scanning the sky looking for bald eagles, I did take a little time to look around and enjoy some of the beauty of Lake Coeur d’Alene.  It was a cold crisp winter day and the scenery was absolutely stunning!.  The lake is especially popular as a summer resort, but is probably more beautiful in the winter.

Lake Coeur d’Alene is one of three large natural lakes in the Idaho panhandle and an equally popular place with locals and Hollywood celebrity-types.  The lake is too large and deep to freeze over, although its bays and creeks that flow into it do.  The snow melt along the cliffs forms some spectacular icicles.
