Some wonderful pix of Australia that bring back so many memories of my visits Islandman I could look at those rock formations for hours. Looking into a million years of history. Australia is certainly like nowhere else on Earth and every day is a fascinating adventure. Certainly is a well written comprehensive Blog you've presented. I've enjoyed it. Thanks.

Ah, yes...that's something I left out. Traction on the trails was just fine...until it started to rain on our way back to the trailhead. That's when we realized the obvious: in a rain forest, it rains. And of course, the umbrellas were in San Juan. And the overpriced ponchos were in the car, back at the trailhead!

It is too bad you didn't make it to La Mina - Swimming under the falls is one of my favorite things to do in Puerto Rico! I ould say that it is closer to 1.5 miles each way.

Another terrific post from my favorite travel philosopher! Like you I am a lover of wood in all its forms, especially unusual trees. Here are two from my travels that represent the kind of things I look for: A dead Jeffery Pine standing on top of Sentinel Dome in Yosemite National park, which has fallen since this photo was taken. The lovely grain of driftwood on Haida Gwaii.
