Re: London In 1927, Recreated Shot For Shot.

GarryRF ·
Many older buildings and structures in the UK get a Grade 1 or 2 "Listed Building" Preservation Order. Some orders include the interior too. Helps to stop the spread of faceless skyscrapers with no lasting architectural qualities. Enjoyed watching that film. Thanks PM.

Then maybe for a next step Yelp might add health grades for the cities in which the restaurants are located.

Re: Yelp Offers Health Grades for LA Restaurants

Paul Heymont ·
This is a first for both Yelp and the County Health Department, so I guess we'll have to view it as a pilot project before any other areas get added. I'm wondering (and I'm sure Yelp is, too) what effect it will have on discussion, and on user choices.

Re: Is it time to regulate airplane seats? Chris Elliott thinks so!

DrFumblefinger ·
I'm not sure if "mandating" certain seat sizes would do anything but raise prices, but it might be nice if they introduced a simple grading system. "A" for business/first class, "F" for the sardine can seating in the most cramped airlines. If I was less than 5 ft tall and weighed less than 100 lbs the current seating system would work fine for me. For most folks it's much too crowded, especially on long flights. All the worse if you have to have your bag under the seat in front of you. Let's...

Re: Erasmus Hall, Brooklyn, NY: Where Gumbo Was (#81)

Paul Heymont ·
Didn't realize that PS 165 was also by Snyder. I attended 1st grade there in 1950-51 and spent a lot of time outside the Principal's office. I angered my teacher by reading (which had not been taught yet) when I was supposed to be cutting paper. Incidentally, Erasmus and Morris were part of a package deal. Each of the boroughs of the newly-merged New York City got one brand-new and large high school. Curtis in Staten Island, Flushing in Queens and DeWitt Clinton in Manhattan were the others,...
