Has anyone ever flown with AirBerlin? I have an opportunity to use them this fall and was curious what others experiences might have been.

I've seen comments elsewhere that their international service took a long time to shake off the discount heritage (maybe that wasn't a good idea for them?) and that they seem now like a "standard" airline. I'll let you know my answer in July; we're on a July 5 JFK-Berlin flight (an A330) and then a week later to Vienna (I believe that one's an A320).

AirBerlin, a OneWorld member, is offering a $499 roundtrip to several European destinations at cut-rate prices from now to Tuesday, with flights from Jan. 12 to Mar. 22. The $499 rate is for Berlin from Chicago, and Stockholm or Copenhagen from NYC....

Returning a bit to its roots as a discount carrier, AirBerlin is introducing a number of new fares starting May 5 (with some previews already for lucky travelers). The key one for bargain hunters is called JustFly; it comes with a seat and that's it....

Airberlin will increase it's flight offerings to the U.S. starting next summer.

Sorry about the pun, but it appears that FlyNiki, an AirBerlin subsidiary, has cancelled plans to move part of its operation from Vienna to Bratislava and connect the two bases with an air shuttle.   

Air France denied a Friday report that it was preparing 3300 layoffs to cut costs but didn't deny that some may happen at the end of ongoing negotiations with unions.
