Re: Canadian snowbirds: Don't clip our wings!
And yet, the right to emergency medical care, no matter what beach you're lying on, is supposedly guaranteed under CHA. And every other province honors it, as did Ontario until Doug Ford (brother of the late bizarre Toronto mayor) was elected.

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#77)
I wasn't suggesting any particular province, only confirming that Sprint Insight has an Ontario corporate address. I'm thinking not as far west as BC, maybe a plains province, given the the grain elevator, if that's what it is.

Re: Where in the World is TravelGumbo (#77)
At first, I was thinking the Pacific North West or BC, but the grain elevator points strongly to the Great Lakes. This is supported by Port Moresby's observation of the Ontario company's container. The largest city in the province is Toronto. It has an airfield beside the lake, and my own photograph from the top of the CN Tower taken a few years ago shows hangers just like in the first picture. I therefore vote for Toronto lake shore.

Re: Gumbo's Pic of the Day, March 24, 2015: Chinese lantern festival in Toronto’s Ontario Place
Hi Karl, just back from USCAP trip. The one in Ontario Place actually happens in summer and the exhibition lasts several weeks each year (I noticed this year, Ontario Place is undergoing a major renovation). The festival also happens in other North America cities like this year's "Arizona Chinese Lantern Festival - February 19-22 and February 26-March 1 ~ 5PM to 10PM Each Night".

Re: Canada snowbirds fight travel health cut
Many -- probably most -- Canadians already buy or have supplemental health coverage when they travel abroad because of the already poor reimbursement provided by their provincial health plans (eg. these plans often pay less than 10% of emergency medical bills one might encounter in the USA or Mexico). Many of Canada's larger employers provide these plans as a perk for their employees. As provinces wrestle with rising health costs due to an aging population and new technologies, I expect that...

Re: Gumbo's Pic of the Day, December 12, 2013: Aerial Lift Bridge, Duluth, Minnesota
Hello again Theodore Sorry for the late response to your question. Personally, I do not think it is worth the time and effort it would take for you to drive to Duluth from Minneapolis for only one day in the winter time. The ride from Minneapolis to Duluth one way on Interstate 35 will take you 2.5 hours, and that's under good driving conditions. In the winter, chances are you will encounter bad weather, and that will definitely add to your driving time. Duluth doesn't shut down in the...

Re: Gumbo's Pic of the Day, Jan. 23, 2014: Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Ontario
Hi Garry RF and DrFumblefinger. Thanks for you interest on today's pic of the day...the Sleeping Giant. Garry, in Northwestern Ontario (and many other areas of Canada), aboriginal names are used quite commonly. In Thunder Bay, many medical clinics, schools, recreational centers, and so on have an aboriginal name, not to mention the many towns and landmarks in the area that also have aboriginal names. A major piece of Northwestern Ontario's history involves the fur trade (which of course the...
