Re: Canadian snowbirds: Don't clip our wings!
And yet, the right to emergency medical care, no matter what beach you're lying on, is supposedly guaranteed under CHA. And every other province honors it, as did Ontario until Doug Ford (brother of the late bizarre Toronto mayor) was elected.

Re: Gumbo's Pic of the Day, Nov. 16, 2015: Franklin Automobiles in Tucson, Arizona
Notice on the 1910 Model G Touring car, it's a right hand drive car. Most early US 1900 cars were because drivers of horse drawn carriages sat on the right. The US only started to change when Ford put a left hand drive on a 1908 Model T so passengers didn't have to enter the car in oncoming traffic.

Re: Gumbo's Pic of the Day, Nov. 16, 2015: Franklin Automobiles in Tucson, Arizona
I’ve heard that, but I’ve also always wondered if it were true, since a driver holding the reins on a horse or horses would want to be able to exert equal force on either side…and all the pictures I can find of buggy drivers seem to show the driver in the middle! One site I just looked at suggests that Ford made the switch to make it easier for passengers to get in and out, by moving the driver away from the curb; the same site suggests that in the early days on the Continent, right-hand was...

Let's also not forget the Volkswagon on the European side. And the Ford Model T, which so greatly dropped the cost of an automobile it became a mass consumer good.

Re: Major New Entrant in Cruise Business
It really is a growing business...and another recent "big" entrant would be Viking, which is expanding from its River Cruise business into Sea Cruises. I'm sort of amazed that none of these companies has thought of licensing the 1959 hit in which Frankie Ford pleaded "Let me take you on a sea cruise" for an ad. For those of you too young to remember (is that possible?) here it is....with a funny intro.

Fascinating that among all the high-end metal there would be a place for a Model A Ford, albeit with special bodywork. Perhaps a family toy for the chauffeur's day off?

Re: Museum find: GE's 'missing' electric car
A little further research confirms what I thought: at least in the Toyota and Ford hybrids, the gasoline engine powers a generator/charger while in use. That's in addition to the power captured from braking.

Just a followup. Car experts have identified this as a 1929 Ford Model A. PHeymont was spot on in his analysis. Not the usual car you see in Argentina, but a delight to see nonetheless!
