Gumbo's Pic of the Day, February 14, 2015: Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto
It's hard for non-Canadians to understand just how beloved ice hockey is in Canada. Do you think football is popular in the USA? Soccer in Ireland? Cricket in India? Well, hockey is comparatively bigger than that in...

Gallery: Signs of Toronto -- the City at Large
Toronto is one of Canada's great cities. Often called the "New York of the North" (I presume as a complement), it's a fun place to visit. There's lots to see and do in Toronto, from the amazing CN Tower which soars 1815 ft (553 m) into the...

Big change ahead for American's AAdvantage?
AAdvantage as we know it: Taking off, or flying away? Over the past two years, most U.S. airlines, including Delta and United, have shifted their frequent-flyer loyalty programs from points-per-mile-flown to points-per-dollar-spent. American,...

Re: Big change ahead for American's AAdvantage?
It looks like the rumors are true and American will join the other airlines and will soon shift to miles earned based on ticked price, instead of mileage flown. From AA: "In the second half of 2016, award miles for travel on American marketed flights will be calculated based on what you pay for your ticket (base fare plus carrier-imposed fees, excluding any government-imposed taxes and fees) and your elite status; the higher your status, the more you’ll earn. 5 miles/U.S. dollar – AAdvantage...

You're not really a town in Canada unless you have a Tim Hortons. It's Canada's favorite cup of coffee, and a great place to grab a coffee, drink or something to eat when doing a road trip in the Great White North.
