A lot of people who went there are now packing out. The Salvation Army is trying to help people - who cannot afford the cost of living in these places - "escape" from boomtown. http://money.cnn.com/2013/01/1...html?iid=SF_PF_River I see ads in the Indianapolis Craigslist for people wanting RVs and travel trailers to take the Dakotas and Montana. Makes me wonder where they will park them when they arrive, how they will stand the winter, and if they did any research into the cost of living...

I was in Berlin on Saturday, the day of the 25th anniversary of reunification. There were tons of people in the city, as crowded as I've ever seen any major city. The main activities were in the Tiergarten, especially around the Brandenburg gate. By the time we made our way there, the police had closed down the area and were not allowing more people in because it was overcrowded. Still, everyone seemed well behaved and having a nice time. If you have the time, MickeyG and you want to do a road trip, then at least 10 days. Two weeks would be even better. Seven days would be really rushing it. Count on 3 days in Dublin, and then add up all the destinations you'll see. I'll be posting more blogs on this Ireland trip in the coming weeks, so it might help you decide what you really want to see there. But we had a great time. Wonderful people, great music, great fun!

This is a terrific tip ! --- For travelers with their own cars, the clockwise approach is preferable as you have the outside lane and better views all the way around and don't end up one small buggy in a convoy of huge buses. Your article makes us want to consider a trip to western Ireland, which has not been on the radar screen. The stone circles are worth the trip all by themselves.

Great pics and article. We were in Kenmare in 2010 and it was a nice overnight. We found a comfy b&b on the outskirts of town to spend the night. The following day we departed for the Ring of Kerry.

Hi, Yes, that is exactly the route we planned to get there, though the trip will actually begin in San Diego this time and be preceded by a trip up the U.S. west coast. But coming back, we are thinking of going to Calgary then dropping all the way down to Montana and Wyoming, and heading back to San Diego via Las Vegas, where we have family. We spent a nice little time thinking about it and planning, even though it won't be until next summer, all because of your post! So thanks for giving us...
