These are some fascinating places to visit, Victoria -- thanks for sharing them. If I had a new set of knees I might even tackle the Overland Trek. Australia has some of the most beautiful landscapes and such a unique flora and fauna. But as I recall it also has the highest percentage of venomous things anywhere in the world -- spiders, snakes, lizards and such. Any suggestions for safety among those of us whose only usual danger might be a rare encounter with a bear or cougar?

Astonishingly, when I went back with a girlfriend in a hire car from Marrakesh in 1997, I arrived in the dark and was speaking with my companion in the car park and a shout rang out “BOB !” My voice had been recognised after 11 years by Hassan the vet brother.
